It is a software problem the battery monitor has a hiccup now and again , all they need do is reset the ON-CALL battery monitor, tell the unit that the battery has been replaced . They should know about this minor problem has been around for the last 8 years ....
I have contacted the dealer who said they were aware of the software problem, they tried to reset as you advised, but the battery was too low for this to work. As soon as the ignition was turned on the message returned. Also noted CEM1A58 and CEM7A05 logged but not active. Both faults relate to the PHM module and my require further diagnosis if fault returns after battery is replaced. They did agree that 4years was a short time for the battery to fail.
So do I put in a new battery at a cost of £130 + £127 fitting or just forget it and carry on removing the message? No big deal just annoying.
Any suggestions. Martyn

Asked how much the security package would cost, he had no idea and told me to phone the ON CALL Centre using the button in the car. This I did but they told me to contact my local dealer!!! At least the system works ok. But I still have the message coming on looks like I will have to put up with it or pay up for the check. Any other suggestions? Martyn
I have just had my XC90 serviced (4 years old) and two days after the service the on-call service warning message popped up. I have had a lot of problems with errant warning messages in 2012 which cost me a lot of money to sort out so I'm on a short fuse. I'm told that the choice is £250 to do the service (low battery, probably) or £168 to disconnect neither of which is very palatable on top of everything last year and a £600-700 service charge. The thing is, I can't really work out what the benefit of this is. Is it just the breakdown cover option which is 'free' after a Volvo service? The cynic in me thinks that it is hardly free if this service needs doing periodically. These warning lights are all very well but if they keep coming on at different intervals one can spend the whole time in the garage! I love the XC90 (my second) and was planning to buy a new one this year plus a V40 for the family but I'm fast losing my faith in Volvo, I have to say.....

Hi,
I had this problem for a while and I ignored it, the phone was not working also. But recently over the winter my main battery was dying a lot. I then replaced the battery but the new battery also died. I suspect this phone/on call battery is draining the main battery. I can't get any info on disconnecting the phone. I would happily pay £168. Any more info on how to do this?

ps My XC90 has also died on the road twice in the last 6 months. First a replacement Diesel Fuel Pump, then 3 months later a replacement fuel float. Tank was empty but saying half full. Battery jumpstarted 5 or 6 times. Not an easy job! So I'm not too happy with Volvo.

I've got this error on a 2007 XC90. I tried pulling the fuse (had the fuse out for a few seconds only, mind) and didn't notice a difference. In theory I have a Volvo specific code reader somewhere (need to find it). If I can find it - am I likely to be able to clear the error myself?

Thanks!
