Default Wing mirror multipin connector

I need to swap the bracket from this XC90 mirror as it is slightly different to the XC70 bracket. To do so I will need to remove the multipin connector to enable the wires to pass through the bracket holes. Can the wires be released from this connector or do I need to cut and rejoin them? Many thanks.

If they got in there, I'm sure they can be removed with a tool like this.

^^this.

In the first picture here, it's the third or fourth from the top right, def. one of the first four.

Push the cables into the bracket and then use the tool from the other side to push down the small latch. Then you can gently pull the cable back and remove it from the bracket.
If you can't get it to work, you can still pull hard on the cables, and the latch will break inside the bracket. You can buy the terminal ends at your dealer one by one, if necessary.

Default XC70 Power Folding Wing mirrors

Hi,
Hoping you may be able to help ...
The casing on my P2 XC70 are broke and I want to replace them (all other aspects of the mirrors are fine - heating ok, folding ok, adjusting ok & puddle lights working) ... I thought I’d read somewhere that the mirrors on the XC 90 are the same (except the bracket / fixing where they attach to the car) ..,

From your post I’m assuming your putting XC90 mirrors on your XC70 ?

If so what issues gave you come up against ?
And more importantly does the casing off the xc90 fit onto the xc70’s mirrors ?
seems daft & expensive to get a whole replacement unit when I only need the casing ...
Cheers

I'd probably just cut and solder / heat shrink. partly because Im the kind of weirdo that actually enjoys that sort of thing but also you wont get any confusion with pin location. just colour matching and jobs a goodun

depending how new the mirror is I would consider temp sensor replacements at the same time just because it is on the bench and it saves taking the door card off later

also when I did that I took the chance to change the plastic window track bushes because they are also cheap and I only wanted to take the door card off once

These connectors have a safety bar that unclips and then swings down.
Looking at the pin side of the connector at say `pin 1` there is an upper and lower hole. The pin is in the lower hole. Find a paper-clip or such-like that is as large as possible but still slides into the upper hole; at the same time applying a slight pull on the wire. You will feel the tang release and the pin start to slide.
