Default Transmission not selecting gear

Had recent issues with Automatic Transmission
Transmission Service required and wouldn't go anywhere just reving the engine.
Got mechanic to change gearbox oil. Intermittent speed sensor fault in log and Reset logs. No further symptoms.
Completed town journeys for a day.
And took it for 1hr journey and the same symptoms returned:

Urgent gearbox service required message on dash.
The car is revving, but not selecting drive, or reverse or any gear in box.
Turn it off and wait 3 minutes and it will go a bit further.
But when coasting/slowing down it doesn't seem to select a gear.
Come to a halt and it won't move anywhere.

It would seem logical that this a speed sensor fault? - replace sensor or TCM fault?

Will get the fault codes from the mechanic. Just wondered logical fault finding on a intermittent issue.

If you are getting the error when slowing down from above 50 mph and it's logging differential speed errors then the problem is most likely to be the torque converter lock up function. If that does turn out to be the case then your best option might be a re-con box I'm afraid.

Another member has posted a similar thread in the past few weeks - he's change the oil, Valve body, sensors etc. but to no avail.

If your mechanic has VIDA (Volvo diagnostics) it can check all of the wiring and condition of the sensors.

Default valve body

Mechanic is leaning towards a valve body.
Fault not only happens when slowing down.
Turn car off, wait for 3-4mins, it will go again - memory is resetting.

Any advice what version of a valve body I need for 2005 XC90?
