144 x 2 1967 1969 4 door saloons
am looking at selling my 2 volvos and wonder what sort of prices they would fetch.
i did have some stupid cheap offers years ago. has the market gone up in these old classics. i used to run the 69 and loved it hence buying the 67 with the thought of making a rally car one rainy day. that was erm.........a long time ago and now married family mortgage etc etc and realistically do not have the time or the space to do anything with them. if they are not worth a lot as complete cars will break them for spares. i also have lots and lots of spare parts of varying nature from brand new volvo panels to engines rudspeed head overdrive parts etc. any advise on which direction to go would be apreciated as lost contact with the volvo scene |

Remember the old joke about the yokel being asked for directions? "Well, I wouldn't start from here, that's for sure!" In a roundabout way that's the problem here - I wouldn't start with 2 144s!
From my own experience the 144 is the unloved relation in the Volvo family; resale prices are v. poor at the moment, in fact the 244/5 is outperforming the 140 series by a street. If they absolutely must go then I would hazard a guess you're better off parting them out than flogging them whole, as getting them through the MOT could be eye-wateringly expensive on its own. Just remember that the parts are not necessarily going to fly out either - you could find yourself with the bulk of the bits still cluttering up your storage a couple of years hence. Having said all that, you could be pleasantly surprised and have someone come and rip your arm off at the 1st possible moment; we just don't know, when it comes to classics, do we? Difficult to put a value on these, best off asking someone like Classicswede or Mike Brace, from Anglesey. Hth, C.A. |
