Freezing point of neat screenwash is higher than that of diluted. Don't know why the manufacturers advise using it neat in very cold temperatures, although it is a good way to make you use more.

The maximum dilution for the volvo fluid is 50-50 which goes down to -28C . I'd stay in bed if that wasn't enough 🎅

I got charged by my dealer who said it was congealed washer fluid. Are other people being charged for rectification of this fault?

That cannot be correct.

Water freezes at zero degrees C. All the neat screenwash I have ever bought freezes at a temperature below freezing. A mixture will have a freezing point somewhere between zero and the point the neat screenwash freezes. It is basic chemistry.

That's a right mess caused by poor quality screen wash and bacteria . Volvo screen wash will not do that .

The rear washer on this new XC60 packed up shortly after I had the car (less than 3 months) - I'd barely put any through it. I also had white powder on the screen that other people had reported. I'm not convinced that it's a cheap screen wash issue.

Well that was the cause on the filthy smelly wash bottles i've had to clean out , The answer is to clean them out thoroughly, but do not empty them with the pumps or you will burn the pump out . when nice and clean add two one litre bottles of volvo wash fluid , from there on , when ever you need to top up add another litre of volvo spirit based wash fluid which also has anti bacteria additive . End of problem simple 👍

I've had that experience too. I had an Audi A5 that had that issue and the washers smelt terrible and kept blocking. I also dropped a Calgon tablet in there which kept it working faultlessly.

The XC60 was brand new and the rear one packed up within weeks of collection. Now they've all stopped working. I'm not fully convinced it's a screen wash issue.

I hope that dealer wasn't cutting costs and putting some cheap wash additive in your XC60 at the PDI , then charge you for cleaning it out , That would be a scandal for the sake of £3

I had the white residue issue from new but it’s completely gone away now I’ve refilled the screen washer fluid with Halfords’ regular green concentrate stuff.
