The small secondary battery powers the car only whilst in STOP mode , taking all the load off the main battery , the main battery does the starting ..

Default Aldi solar charger

We have a C70 which sadly sits most of the year and no garage so on the advice of a Volvo forum member I bought an Aldi solar charger for £24.99 - connected it and put it on the dash.

Works like a charm - the car starts up every time - months apart.

As it should anyway with a good battery ...
With new cars ( obviously with new batteries ) volvo state that the battery should be charged every 3 months if stored .. there is a ticket in the glovebox which must be signed when this takes place .. I cant see the current generation volvos hanging around for long though :-)
