key programming

hi, just bought a 2015 xc60 and love it, only came with one key.....
i have managed to source a key that has been "blanked" ready to reprogrammed to a new car, supplied with new blade too.
but, I am having dificulty finding a place that will do it, all the places i have found want to supply the key which is always an after market version.
is there anyone on here that can help?
i am in peterborough and willing to travel if the price is right and not too far.

ps, its the standard locking version, not smart key.
key needs to be in the dash to start car.

There is only one place to get the keys programmed , a volvo approved workshop . used keys can not be reused , second hand ones are worthless... they will also remove the missing key from memory as at this moment the "lost" key can still drive your car away !

I have had it confirmed by several places that used keys can be reprogrammed but need to be reset back to new condition and the immobiliser chip unlocked to enable this. This process is essentially puting the key back to new condition. In a stated before it was programmed to the original vehicle. It requires specialist equipment and software to do. I know about deleting the old key too, believe me, that will be done too.

Each remote fob comes pre programmed with an embedded unique code which is printed on a label which comes with the key ,no two remotes are the same however old they are the car has to be told what the code number is before it accepts the remote , the remotes are never blank ...
all this has to be confirmed with the factory car database file in sweden before they allow that fob to be programmed to the car .. you are being misled..
your only hope is with a dealer or authorised repairer ..

If that is the case then after market keys would never work.
The embedded code can be Extracted with the correct software and equipment.
Each key has a unique code. As does each car. Both car and key need to be "paired" to talk to each other and understand each others codes. The code from the car is effectively locked in to the key. The key needs to be unlocked to allow this code to be blanked (removed) from the key.
All that is "blanked" from the key is the code from the original car, the new code from the new car is then programmed in to the unlocked key, exactly the same as if new at the factory. The only thing that is needed from volvo central database is the pin for the car to allow the programming to take place. Thus all must be done in the vehicle with the key in question, it can never be done remotely the only part that can be done remotely is the unliking of the key and removal of the car code.

The car itself doesn't have a code it accepts what ever code is on the label which comes with the remote once the remote and the car are approved when linked up to the factory at the dealer ..

There is no such thing as a PIN anyone can get from the volvo database , I should know i have been doing this for the last 20 years ...

There are many places offering reprogramming of used keys.... Watch this space. I will keep you updated. I believe the software necessary to do this is not from volvo, but a third party created program.... We will see....

Hi simply states be sure it's the correct key for the vehicle in question. Makes sense really....
The one I have has all exact same numbers as my only key.... So it "should" be OK.

You are wrong.
The key has a unique fixed transponder serial number.

The serial number of the key is stored inside the CEM, so that the key is paired with the car.

It is the CEM that gets programmed with the key's data, not the key that gets the car's date.
