Default Driver Side Heater Problem

I bought 2010 Volvo S40. I didn't realize that before. Driver side is blowing cold air but passenger side is good with hot air. Can someone suggest what could be problem? I read few threads talking about "sensors". How to locate those sensors? I desperately need to solve this problem. I live in Alberta, Canada.

I would connect it to VIDA and read error codes, then run a climate control re-calibration.
If you don't have VIDA and plan to keep the car, it is a good idea to buy one from ebay and install the software in virtual box (you will find information about this on this forum).

Alternatively, have Volvo take a look at it.

Check if your coolant level is OK, I had an issue with low coolant after my expansion tank burst and heating started behaving as you describe.

Also - try to perform manual calibration (put both sides to LOW, check ttemps, put both sides to HI, test temps, then do one side LO/HI and in reverse HI/LO).
Its not as effective as VIDA calibration but sometimes help.

The 'dirty fix' which has been successful for some people, and a bit like how Lizard said, slowly take both control knobs down to 'LO' and then slowly back to 'HI'.

If symptoms persist then the car will need plugging in to check the various damper motor actuators associated with the Climate Control, for most owners the CC is pretty reliable - certainly not a problem area anyway.

Anyway, living in Alberta? pah - how cold can it get
