T5 engine problem
Has anyone had this problem with the T5? My two-month old Inscription with 450 miles was being driven on the A14 up an incline which required some boost. Suddenly there was a loud "pop" and most of the power was gone. Apparently the cover to the air resonator pipe was blown off its housing, possibly by the sudden increase in boost. A new resonator (apparently a modified design) was fitted but I have not been able to see it all is well..
Apparently this cover is only glued on, so could it have just been a poor batch of glue, or is it something more fundamental, e.g. a design failure? Any knowledge/ opinions/ experience with this failure, and how Volvo re-designed the cover/pipe (if in fact they have done so) would be most interesting to read. This engine type has been munfactured for at least five years (it was installed in my V40) so this type of design failure should have been resolved quite a few years ago. Fortunately Volvo On Call and my local dealers, Lookers, eventually got the car going. Many thanks in advance Villarsch |
