Default Hazard switch problem

Can someone tell me if the hazard switch is a push button that latches a relay or a standard on-off switch please.
I discovered my hazards weren't working. A thread in this forum linked a similar failure to a short in the cigar lighter. I checked and found a 5p piece stuck in there. The 20A fuse had blown! I replaced the fuse but the hazards still didn't work. Then I tapped it and bingo they were working but wouldn't switch off! Much pushing, tapping etc and finally they stopped.
Now worried that the hazards could switch on a flatten battery. Help!

TIA Dave

Not sure about that. But it is a common fault in S/V40's. I had same problem and a new switch sorted the problem. As far as I can remember, Volvo stealer wanted £25-£28. I got mine from a car I was scrapping. With a bit of patience you can get one for less that £3 including delivery on ebay.

Default Hazard Switch Problems

Hi, recently acquired a V40 and popped my Hazards on the other day. They will not switch off. Looks like i need to replace the switch but can anyone tell me if you can release the switch from the front or if it is a pain of a job.

Cheers

Try a short squirt of electrical switch cleaner or WD-40 down the sides of the switch and operate it several times - it might do the trick (well, it worked for me when my hazard w/l switch stuck "on". the day before the MoT!).
