Don't forget to tell Dan you've moved - if he gets home (to Corby Del Sol) and finds you've moved, he might take it personally!

Joking aside, i hope the move goes well and you enjoy your new residence.

I suppose you've dropped a hint you might be getting an old Vauxhall Viva as another project there, Elvis even did a song about that! Viva Skeg-Vegas...........

The bungalow may be a bit of a transition move Dave, if I like the Lincolnshire coast then I might look for a bigger place there; if I get bored of the seaside, tourists (NIMBY - me?) an everything being covered with sand I may move on to somewhere else - we’ll see. I think for a couple of years (at least) it will be fine.

Part of the deal (with Dan) is that I’ll buy him a flat in Glasgow or (more likely) Paisley this spring. He has 3 more years to do at Strathclyde and the rent:buy equation means it makes sense for me to gift him his own place. Once he has that (I’m hoping by May/June) he may not come back home very often. I’ll miss him but it is an inevitability one day, so I’d rather organise it on my terms.

PS. My (very helpful) neighbour and I spent about an hour trying to load the Goldwing onto my bike trailer this afternoon- eventually concluding we couldn’t do it safely and such that I’d be able to unload it myself the other end. The Goldwing is such a big beast (800lbs) that I think I’ll have to ride it over sometime and get a lift back. That shouldn’t be too difficult to organise. I ended up loading my Triumph (half the weight of the Goldwing such that I can load/unload it myself) and the CB200 (weighs as much as a half eaten packet of crisps). I’ll take them both with me this evening and free up about the same room as the Goldwing!

It sounds like the riddle of having to get the dog and several chickens over a bridge that will only just take the weight of the person, the dog and one chicken at a time and the dog would eat the chickens if left alone with them.

Just an idea to start it off, take your two "light" bikes over then drive home with the trailer.
Ride the Goldwing over and bring one of the light bikes back.
Next trip, return the light bike on the trailer - sure you can tweak that to suit.........

Hi Alan,

Glad to hear all’s eventually panned out well with the properties, and I’m sure Bobs enjoying the sand between his toes. 😀

Seen a few bits n pieces in print and TV recently about Lincolnshire being the next up n coming destination, a la North Norfolk, or Chelsea on Sea😀😀

Good luck with the bike logistics👍

Cheers
Steve

Something like that Dave.

My Triumph and the small Honda are safely tucked away in the Vegas garage. One advantage I have is the bungalow is next door to a golf links, so I just have to wait for golf-playing mates Clarkie and Gary to pop over for a round of golf, ride the Goldwing over and hitch a lift home with them.

I’m a bit fortunate in having a few months to move what I want to from here to Vegas, and also that the folk buying the Corby house are keen to take most of the furniture (they are moving from a rented house, and I fancy new furniture, so it suits all parties). I just need to move the important stuff: Bob, Millicent, cars, motorcycles, guns, tools, Dan’s and my own personal stuff.

Ah, some good progress then!

As for combining some moving with a round of golf, that sounds a good plan. You may have to shift the 19th hole temporarily closer to home so you can buy your mates a beverage as a thanks for the lift.

Nice plate on the Triumph too!

Yes Dave, a slab of beer would be a lot cheaper than a 75 mile taxi.

The number plate? Oh yes, I've just realised that in a dim light, with one eye closed and the other blinking fast it looks vaguely like my name. What a nice coincidence .

You can always bribe them with free accommodation in the future if they fancy playing a round on the course next door as well. That way they can use the 19th there and then return to yours for the 20th hole!

I have two similar plates one on my Jag (J3000) and the other to go on the Honda (C12V - squint and it looks like CRV) with my initials as the last two letters. Always nice to get a good plate!

They are already referring to my new place in ‘Vegas as ‘Golf HQ’ Dave, so using it as the 19th/20th hole has already been factored in.

Given the number of cars you have and the fact there's a golf links on the doorstep, you should call it "Car-a-Lago".

Not sure you'd get away with charging $500,000 one-off joining fee and $150,000 annual membership though...................
