Default S40 t4 2001

Hi new to the club. My name is Adam.

I've just inherited my dads Volvo s40 T4.

It has a couple of problems that i would like to fix before i use it as a day to day car.

1) The car doesn't idle it drops below 1000 revs when sitting still e.g. at traffic lights. Any ideas of how to fix that would be great.

2) there is a big dent drivers side back wing were a lovely neighbour hit it with something but all the paint is still there. Any ideas of how to get that out would be great.

Thanks

Adam

This will likely be the ICV (idle control valve). I might have one lying around somewhere, I'll check tonight if I remember. You can always take yours off, give it a soaking in carb cleaner and refit, you'll likely need a new gasket on refitting, depending how old it is but may get you going again. It SHOULD be below 1k revs, T4's idle at around 750rpm.

Paintless dent removal guy should be able to get this out for not much money.
