"to serve and protect"!!!??
if you happen to be driving in the north west and you run into problems just pray this "officer" does not come to your aid, from a article in this weeks manchester evening news ,a police officer tarik mahood aged 30 has been allowed to keep his job with g.m.p despite being convicted of leaving the scene of a accident (he had caused) at high speed with a injured mother and child left trapped in their car, having no insurance, he then went to elaborate lengths to avoid detection, including respraying the car and cohercing his girlfreind to lie and state she was driving, however on a brighter note a spokesmen for gmp has stated his duties for the present will not include driving! ,how reassuring

RE: "to serve and protect"!!!??
I wonder if this would be the outcome if his name was Joe Smith or similar.
The pc brigade would doughtless claim that it was racial if they had sacked him. Vaughan |

I believe some newspaper articles also stated that the Force were unable to sack him as they had already too few from ethnic minorities.

RE: "to serve and protect"!!!??
Here in Northern police area, a traffic cop lost his job a few months back when a colleague caught him speeding - he was doing something like 140 on the A9. I seem to recall that he claimed he was testing a new patrol car before taking a driving course the following day.

RE: "to serve and protect"!!!??
There are always some people within every profession who give everyone else a bad name; but this is far more serious than just another bad story to make us cynical. i'm sure the police will be making this chap's life very difficult over the coming weeks/months - if he isn't already kicked out of the force by then. let's hope so.

RE: "to serve and protect"!!!??
your quite right, there are always bad apples in every proffesion including of course the police, so the fact an officer has been found to be corrupt is no big deal its nothing new, there will always be tiny minority of police who fall into this catergory due to the fact they are mere mortals like the rest of us, the really disturbing thing about this case is that the police authority have seen fit to condone this behavior by allowing this scumbag to remain in his position, its really beyond comprehension and no doubt the vast majority of police officers feel the same disgust as the rest of us
