Cool Nice 2nd Hand Cars:

Don't know if any of you have seen the MSN homepage this morning, but there's an article on cars that can be had for very little money, compared with what they cost new. You can pick these up for less than a grand!

One that I'd never even looked at before is the Alfa Romeo 166. Like this one on Ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Alfa-Romeo-166...item3a5e06fb44

I have to say that that looks like a very very nice motor!! I love the shape of it, and the spec is superb......could I be tempted.....yes, definitely. That's MY sort of motor.

Others include the Hyundai XG30, which, fully loaded, is a lovely motor.

Skoda Octavia, the originals are almost bombproof.

and

The Cadillac BLS which is dearer.... but what a lovely motor. Apparently the lack of marketing has made it almost unheard of, and that's why they now go so cheap.

Anyway.....have a look at them, and see what you think......but that Alfa....I am still drooling !!

Alfas are as likely as any other tech-laden luxobarge to go pop after ten years or more have passed under its wheels. Mine was well looked after and never missed a beat in 4 years.

These MSN lists to me always smack of someone being told 'it's a quiet day news-wise, go do a piece on cars'.

I wouldn't buy a BLS - whatever badge they stick on it, it's still a tarted up-Vectra for centenarians. I've had my eye on Alfa 156s for a while, though, my next motor is either going to be one of those (with that lovely v6 of course) or an 80s Merc SEC coupe. I fear the Alfa may be the MORE reliable and practical of the two choices though, when did you last hear somebody say that! I could pick up a decent 156 for 2k, or a passable 500SEC for 2.5k - if I was in more regular employment I'd be very very tempted.

Of course, in a few years you'll be able to get a Monaro/VXR for that kind of money - I can't wait!

I agree that Alfa is very very tasty, crisp lines reminds me of my old X/19, those Italians know a lot about style!

Yeah, but Head gaskets can go on any car....even Volvos, usually, it has to be said, through either poor maintenance, sudden coolant loss, thrashing the car, or just plain age. And at the end of the day it's not usually too big a job to put right.

I just love the styling, interior and general appearance of it....Showed it to my wife last night. She likes it too! Just maybe one for the future, as we are quite happy with the 940 atm.
