Citroen do also change the spring if it is broken and fit a cup in addition! Sort of belt and braces.
They don't send you on your way with a goosed spring that has been patched up!

What Clan means is, some manufactures will modify a part which has a common problem, where as (generally) the french just keep firing the same part back at them

yes thats it , Citroen had a recall for this also on C3's it was to fit the cup piece to catch the spring when it broke , otherwise the spring wraps itself around the brake hoses etc and makes a right mess of the wheel tyre and brake pipes . Pity they didnt call them in for new springs ..

so, certain citroen's have a known issue with snapping springs,
citroen "fix" it by fitting exactly the Same spring and a cup to stop it eating Everything possible when the known faulty design/spec'd spring fails next time....

and folks wonder why "french" cars have the rep they do.....

There is an old saying:

Let the Germans build the cars, leave the French to their cooking

I'd have a 75 over a french POS, the 75 isn't that bad, replace both fuel pumps, and air flow meter, all brake pipes and the clutch, and you'd have a great car for around 6 months
