Lots of Bertone cars + other Volvo's!!
Just felt the need to show these lovely cars, outside of the "Showroom" section.... the cars belong to the members of the "Volvo Bertone 262C & 780 Club" here in Germany. As we have joined, first meet of the year was yesterday at the Schloss Paffendorf close to Bergheim.
Enjoy! This brown 780 look-the-same-as-mine.. is not mine! Just the same year, 1987. One of DDR's Volvo's that Erich Honecker used! Another one of Erich Honecker's cars....

Lovely cars and yes it does look like yours. What a special get together you had.
Do you know "exactly" where the Erich Honecker cars are parked?240 specials?I'll be straight over to get them Lol. I always wanted one of those and thought they had all gone. Interesting to see the differences between the two bertones parked together. And the one with Hydras fitted looks ok as well. Thankyou very much indeed. Please feel free to post more and more and more. Thanks Brian. |

Most of the 780's that were there were either 1987's or 1990 models. Some look really bad once upclose with seats being ripped or cracked, many body damages etc. Real sad. However, one of the blue ones in the pictures are owned by the guy who organises these meets and is like new. As for engines in the 780's, there were one 2.4 Diesel (intercooler) tuned to 140bhp, a few V6's and a 2.0 16v Turbo with 200bhp. Most cars in display seems to have originated from Sweden, Belgium, Italy or USA. Strange to see so many at the same time in a country that never had them for sale.

Thank you for the extra information.I love the unusual.Always went out of my way to get something different.I owned a 3Litre Austin once,WHY because it was different.I even wanted to buy a bendy bus,But alas I was still living at home then and my mum wouldn't let me have one.I tried to convince her to let me buy TWO humber super snipes. One was a hearse and one was a black standard car.But again she wasn't for persuading.
Look forward to seeing more pictures. Many Thanks Brian. |

Hi mate "YES" indeed. It was a manual one as well very rare as most were auto's.Self leveling suspension.Hydrolastic.Fold down armrests on both front seats,Walnut dash and overdrive on third and fourth via a stalk like the early indicator arms.It even had a pinkish lite on the end.
I loved that car and it was rear wheel drive and a straight six engine but only good for about eighty MPH. Regards Brian. Heres one but not mine as all my pictures are on photographic paper Lol. Mine was the same cherry red colour as the last photoe. |
