.... now if only they could repair all the pot holes that have been caused where the have burnt away the lane markings, that would be fantastic.

Fourth lane of M62 will finally open - but 50mph speed limit to remain.

*Would need to check but it's definitely months overdue!

I’ve had the misfortune of having to fly out of the Manchester Retail Park/Airport a couple of times this year, and the drive there and the drive back have been horrendous on both occasions. The bunching through the roadworks has made for a miserable start and end to my holidays, compounded of course, by flying from and back into somewhere that, had it been sentient, would be the place to deliver an enema. Its only saving grace is that it is not Gatwick.

But tonight (Monday) will see a major milestone in the 17 mile, £208m project when the fourth lane on a 10-mile stretch of the eastbound carriageway between Rochdale and Simister Island is opened.

Tomorrow, the extra lane on a corresponding stretch of the westbound carriageway will also come into use.
Guess what, the lanes were all still coned off when I drove through this morning! Surprise surprise!

Long delays on M62 and M60 after emergency pothole repairs cause two-hour queues.

Looks like I got my wish. Surely common sense would dictate that these repairs (or even complete resurfacing as it wont be lung until these repairs fail) should be done at night, instead of leaving it to the afternoon in the run up to Christmas. As can be seen though, they still didn't bother opening up the new inside lane to at least leave 2 lanes running!

Rather reminiscent of the opening of the new J11A on the M1 earlier this year. Having spent the best part of two years building the new junction with all of the associated traffic chaos the junction was declared open, less than two weeks later they were closing the motorway overnight to work on the gantry signs!!!! and with the new junction open they instigated a new area wide 7.5t weight limit which meant all of the overnight trucking vehicles were being diverted into a weight limit.

Not a motorway nor anything like it, but a local road was closed due to a tree falling across it. A very helpful WPC was directing traffic down the diversion. If you turn right by here and go past the garden center, then over the railway bridge you will come to the A44, turn left and you are back on course, she explained.

Ahhh, sorry I cannot go that way I'm 5 ton, the bridge has a 3 ton limit. Not to worry I shall turn around, says I.

The look of horror on her face as she realised she had been sending trucks over a weak bridge was something to behold, her bugger, forgot about the weight limit, said it all.

Paul.
