Default Volvo On Call App only opens boot

Since updating my Volvo On Call app on iPhone this week, I notice that it will only unlock the boot, rather than all the doors.

It displays a message saying 'Boot unlocked. Press the handle on the boot to unlock the other doors'.

Last weekend it allowed me to open all the doors directly. Is this a new (rubbish) feature, or am I missing something?

Thanks

Thats all mine has ever done, assumed it was some sort of security feature for emergencies.

It’s been like that for the last 7 years that I’ve had Volvo on call, it was the same on my previous xc60.

Yep, only unlocks the boot or tailgate, IIRC when the boot/tailgate is opened and then closed again it re-locks again automatically.

Thanks all. I am going a bit mad then - I was sure it opened all doors last week. Perhaps it just opened the boot, but the message has changed on the new app. Or I am even further down the slippery road to dementia than I thought.

It only remotely unlocks the boot as a security feature. You can LOCK everything remotely if you forget to lock it, unlocking it completely remotely is pointless.

It's not a big thing for me, I was just curious, but I wouldn't say it's pointless. Different people have different needs. Dark glass would be pointless for me, but obviously not you!

I can’t really imagine when you would need to completely unlock your car from a distance further than you can with the key?

The logical extension of that assertion is that you don't need to unlock the boot from a distance further than you can with the key. So we don't need the facility at all.

More constructively, the VOC app should, rather than a heading that says 'Doors and Windows' and two buttons saying 'Lock' and 'Unlock', have a latter button saying 'Unlock boot'. Then it would be unambiguous.

Imagine the scenario: You and the wife are shopping in a large City centre, she announces that she's going to try on several new outfits in Harrods, M&S, Matalan, Primark or wherever you allow her to spend money....you retire to Wetherspoons!

Two hours later you receive a call "meet me at the car because I'm not carrying all of these bags into Wetherspoons". Your reply: "the boot's unlocked my dear, close it after you've finished, I'll have a gin and tonic waiting here for you"

That's what the function was perhaps developed for?
