Default Any V50 Buying Advice Please

Morning All

We’re now looking for a new car for my wife and have decided to go and have a look at a 2008 V50. The car is a D5 geartronic with 110K on the clock. It has full service history and has had one owner.

I’m the proud owner of a 960 so, for my sins, have a little Volvo and spanner knowledge; however I'm limited when it comes too these new-fangled diesel front wheel drives.

Any suggestions on what I should check, keep an eye out for, would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance, Bloater

Petrol advice here, not entirely sure about geartronic as they age, and diesels of a certain type can give bother unless well maintained.

You've not said what the usage will be but a D5 is fine if you're pounding the motorways a lot, not so suited to running around locally. Not that there's anything wrong with pottering around in a D5 but it's not what it's best at and it won't deliver high MPG's around town, there's a risk with low usage that the emissions gubbins can become clogged etc on moderns and become a nuisance/expensive faults.

Geartronic would be best if it had evidence of being serviced (fluid changed etc).
