Default Gearbox oil level

Hi all, is there any way to tell if the gearbox is short of oil? It's just that in the last 2 months i have been told it is showing signs of leakage twice and as i am disabled i can't get underneath to check it out.

On the TF80 the level is checked by removing the middle bolt of the drain plug whilst the car is on level ground, then engine running and the oil warm.... unfortunately there's no other way. It's not a good check really as if no oil comes out, you have no idea whether is short of 10ml of fluid or a litre....

Unless it's leaking so badly that the car is leaving oil deposits on the ground when you park it and it's driving okay - I wouldn't worry (it's probably just sweating from the seals).

(it's probably just sweating from the seals). That's what the garage said. Thank's.
