Default XC90 Consol screen

Hello!

I have a 2008 D5 XC90 SE LUX, but I don't have the mini popup screen in my dash.
I have looked at all the aftermarket stuff and it doesn't really suit my need.
I like the little motorised screen etc and see eBay have them for about £100.
Question is can I retro fit one? Would it be plug n play?

I would basically want to add a new reverse camera for a when hitching a trailer, would this be a simple task or am I expecting too much?

Any alternative suggestions would be appreciated!

the screen is part of the navigation
You need

Screen
Navigation DVD drive (is tied to the VIN number)
GPS antenna
Steering wheel controls
Remote control
Wiring loom
Programming to car

For the backup cam you need
Camera
Camera control module
Wiring loom
Programming to car

All are possible, most people stop when they see the price...

WOW! Thats a no then! Thank you for the prompt reply.

I think the next step will be either the Auto-Vox V5 Pro OEM and replace the rearview mirror - or the legend kit off of FB.

Auto-vox = £200, Legend = £440 - i guess i will be going down the Auto-Vox Route!

The rear view mirror isn't just a mirror, it's the UEM (Upper Electronic Module). Without it the car won't work it's connected to the alarm, quite a few sensors and the remote locking.

You mention the Legend, yes it is more expensive but it gives you much more functionality plus a great looking giant touchscreen with sat nav, 4g, Wifi, bluetooth, USB etc etc.

As someone who has a Legend, it is far from what it's said to be. So far I've had two reversing cameras fail. One was replaced by the seller. The image has never been really clear so now I've imported three other types to see if they any better and last longer. The navigation function is def flawed. It's simply too dangerous to look that far down to see the screen, so I've just bought a dedicated satnav which sits on the dash within a flick of my eyes rather a movement of my head a refocus.

The radio! It simply will not follow stations - period. Don't get me started on wifi etc. All of that said, its great for music and is not difficult to install or wire unless you have unknown modifications lurking as I did.

Worst of all is the group owners attitude. NO, NONE WHATSOEVER 'perceived' negativity is allowed to be posted. NO images whatsoever of the rear of the unit can be posted. NO images of how one must cutaway the carrier frame can be posted either. In terms of freedom of speech or information (such as reset codes) DO NOT expect any help.

Given my £480 again, I'd buy Kenwood and a separate backup camera and satnav combined. No it would not look as nice but I'd get bits that actually worked properly.

Or, buy it on Aliexpress for closer to £150...
