Are you going to get it re-mapped?

It gives it a lot more grunt and helps with better fuel consumption too.

Just had my D5 auto done.

Yes it was an ecu out job, so used a local company I know well who had done my XC70 previously.

I understand the limitations of the AW55, so had a very mild 210bhp 400Nm map (although some remove the egr and dpf and map to 230+).
It's not about the numbers really for me as most of the time you are not at full throttle. Normally driving is greatly improved, as it's so much easier to drive with the extra torque.

Fair to say it has transformed the car. Throttle response is so much sharper, and mid range so much better.
Torque is limited in first 2 gears anyway, so it only really tells when on the move. The AW55 gets into 3rd quickly anyway so most of the time you feel the benefit.

Had my Passat remapped a few years ago and it transformed it, got rid of the sluggish pickup and stalling with a higher idle and limits. Better mpg too.
Probably not going to do it for the C70 just yet.

Took it in for a gearbox oil change and it needed it. Probably never been done.
Also told me that one of the CV boots is split, plus a couple of the glow plugs are not responding. As it needs an oil change next month I may get all these done the .
Also had the codes read, which was new for me. Most of the aircon ones relate to the fact that the condenser needs replacing.
Also the swirl actuator is worn and they reattached it as it was off.
Any thoughts on the others?

Tyre question, I’m looking at getting a set of 17” wheels for a better ride. What profile is usually fitted on other C70s as I have seen 215/50 and 235/45.
Quite a few used 215/50 about which could be a quick swap..

That's only a single wheel so for 4, £400 would be a bit expensive.

If you really hate the black wheels, why not get them re-furbed in the colour you like and replace the tyres when they wear out?

You can choose the tyre size then.

I thought about getting these repainted, but they would still be £60 a wheel for that, but it’s an idea.
They also have a strange method and don’t seem to use standard Volvo fastenings. I haven’t had them off yet, but I gave feeling there is no way for me to fit the spare wheel in the event of a puncture as these bolts look different.

Do Volvo use studs or bolts to hold the wheel on?

on our c70 nuts that screw onto studs in the hub on the v70 bolts that screw in to the hub take one off and have a look . report back if your thinking of changeing to some alternatve wheels check the bore size before rushing out to buy.

Get the wheels re-furbed in silver or whatever colour and a new set of wheel nuts to match and new centre caps then you're in business.

If you buy second-hand wheels you'll probably want to re-furb them anyway and still have the originals to get rid of.

They look nice wheels so in silver or shadow chrome they'll look great IMO.

Default Best option for BT?

Just had the aircon stripped down and the condenser is shot as expected, leaking , although parts seem to have been replaced before as it’s a 2006 radiator fitted to a 2008 car. Definately hasn’t been working for a while.

Did manage to wash, polish the car and lubricate the rubbers which has stopped the windows squeaking and brought the paintwork up a little. Got to decide whether to try machine polishing it myself or finding a local mobile guy to do it.

I need to sort the BT before I start using it for work next week. At the moment, all it has is the 3.5mm jack socket in the arm rest and the power sockets next to the roof switches.

I think I have 3 options
1- Buy the Pure Highway 600, connect it up and have BT and able to stream from Spotify which I use a lot, if I understand the kit correctly.
2- Find an aftermarket module to activate the phone buttons in the car, but this won’t allow any Control of streaming?
3- Stick a cable into the phone and mount it off the dash, but this is t really ‘hands-free’.

I don’t really want stuff stuck all over the car but I need to make some compromise to get the BT and can’t think of any other combinations. At the moment I think the Pure is the quickest option while I look at others?

Does it always have to be selected onto AUX or will it ring if you are using the radio or CD?
