If the tensioner pulley feels ok I take it I should leave it alone or what is the consensus generally?
You change everything in one go then forget about it for 10 years.
Doing piecemeal changes whilst waiting for something to deteriorate to the point that it needs changing is not advisable especially not in the belt area.

I only had 30 mins earlier so just swopped in the belt, all good (pic attached).
The tensioner feels fine, the pulley feels good and tight so I'm happy to leave it until I'm in there again at the weekend (changing tierod ends, shocks, top mounts and aircon belt).

Yep, I know that tune well ;-) Oranmore is the next village over from Clarinbridge when heading for Galway city. I'm about 3k from Clarinbridge.

I'm not sure which is which TBH, I assumed that the big spring was the mechanical version...

@chesired5 Yep agreed, am working my way though it, not trying to save time or skimp ;-) I'll soon be turning my attention to the brakes, pads all round and rear disks needed.

Thanks again for all the responses!

Which shocks have you gone for?

Changing the tensioner is a good idea when you get around to it. Its peace of mind once its done.

A friend of mine has a house in Kinvara. That’s not too far from Clarinbridge either. Lovely place.

I went with Optimal shocks, I've used them previously and found them better than OEM. I changed the rears last night, all went smoothly bar one of the upper bolts (rearmost) being almost rounded off, some pressure and a 9mm socket got it out, I've replaced it with a new bolt.

Yes, I pop over to Kinvara for lunch sometimes, its picture postcard pretty.

This seems like a no-brainer for the protection it could possibly offer, anyone fitted one?

These things don't go flying off and tangling prematurely without warning.
Just change your belts and pulleys with genuine Volvo on time.
