headlight washers
Hi all, Seen as we are getting up to the time of year when the roads are filthy, Has anyone retro fitted headlights washers/squirters?
I know some came with wipers and washers, and the headlight washers only squirt every 5 times that the windscreen washers squirt. Is the wiring in place for the second pump and appropriately wired so that it doesnt squirt every time? Im not too concerned about fitting the wipers, but headlights washers I think would be handy! I hope this makes sense, its been a damn long day! cheers Ben |

Hej Ben,
this is all plug and play with your V70, and you do not need an additional pump, the headligtwashers are connectet to the windshieldpump. But you will need another skin for your frontbumper, with the resesses for the wiperdriveshafts. By the way, who told you, that the headlightwashers only spray every 5 times, the windshieldwasher does? That's bull, they spray synchronized! Gernot

Thats interesting, thanks!
I may have got the "every 5 times" thing from something else, perhaps my old 360gle. Is it just a case of putting T-piece in the pipe work and plumbing in the washer jets? Easier than expected if so! Does the washer pump have enough "guts" to run another 2 washer jets as standard? Thanks to the previous owner the front bumper really isn't pretty, so I may just pop a few "universal" washer jets in the right place. THanks all. Ben |

yes, it is that simple. Two T-pieces, to divide between windshield and headlights and right and left, that's it! Gernot

I added headlamp washer jets to a W124 E-Class Merc that I once owned. I didn’t fit wipers, just the jets. From memory I just bought some standard universal screen wash nozzles from Halfords, then plumbed in the extra piping using T-connectors with one-way valves in. The nozzles were fitted into the vertical trim panels under each headlight.
It certainly all worked insofar as washer fluid was sprayed all over the lights, but it didn’t really clean the lights as well as a proper set-up with wiper blades. Jack |
