V70 ph1 2000 m/year air bag ecu obsolete
Hi, I am looking for some advise please, my ph1 v70 2.5D classic registered may 2000 on a W plate is in trouble as the air bag ecu has gone down and they are now obsolete from volvo. my local dealer in Warwick has looked looked all around europe.
the part number on the ecu is 9171880D and was only fitted on the very last models, the 1999 model ecu is available but according to volvo technical will not fit mine, i don't know what the difference is, possibly my sips bags are wired not air operated. any advise appreciated otherwise it will have to be sold for spares when the mot runs out which will be a shame as only done 158,000 for a diesel. |

Are these coded or programmed to each individual car?
Would a used one from another car be an option? Would it be possible to reprogram one etc? |

I have a 97 wheel and air bag on a 99 car with no issues, not aware of 00 models being different!
One day if I can ever be bothered I am going to try swapping different year SRS ecus from one car to another to see if they work! what could possibly go wrong!

I will speak to the dealer about the later c70 models for compatibility, but as he spoke to volvo technical I assumed they would of looked at all possibilities.
No one will repair these and obtaining a second hand one is very hard. |

Obtaining a used one isn't hard at all.
Plenty of these around the country in breakers yard. Doubt there is much call for this part. I just tried V70 breaking on Ebay and found several advertised . If a used one will work why even bother with the Stealers. |

P2 wheels will work so I wouldn't trouble the main dealers any more!

Thought I had a lead. EBay (world wide site) had a module with your part number, but it using a stock photo.

I cant imagine volvo not having a part which keeps a car off the road . Have they tried the classic warehouse ? There is no software needed so you could try a used one . How do you know the unit is faulty?
