Boost leak Hissssssss and gears hard to engage
Hi all
I will post this question separete to my photostory thread as I really need your help to nail down the possible causes. Car had recently underwent a major job and this post lists everything that was done to it. Right now I am trying to sort out 2 annoying issues that I need brainstorming on: 1) Gears hard to engage (Manual Ggearbox) Since car is back on the road I noticed sometimes gears are VERY hard to engage - mostly from standstill when trying to get 1st or R . ITs like its going half-way and wont budge further. Pumping up clutch is not helping, pushing harder is not helping, only wiggling the lever (like going 2nd, 3rd, 1st again) or going forward a bit on 2nd makes it possible to engage 1st properly. -it doesnt happen always, just sometimes. This morning there was no issues, yesterday I literally couldnt engage 1st. -when driving, gears are easy to engage with 1 finger, no problem It feels like its a mechanical issue like linkage, gearbox misalligned or somethig, rather than clutch/pressure issue, if you know what I mean? I may be wrong but all indicates to it. With the recent job done (clutch replaced, engine out&back in, battery side engine mount changed) its possible gearbox is sitting a bit differently now, maybe? is there something that can be causing it and is it possible to fine-tune it somehow? 2) Boost leak with I am not sure if this issue was present before or not, highly possible it was there but I didnt hear it due to manifold fart. Now its very audible and clearly indicates something is not right. When boosting, you can hear a long HISSSSSSSSSssssss that lasts trough the whole boost process. Vida confirms the boost pressure is around 10psi as compared to 14psi I used to have year ago when I got S1 tune. You can hear it sound on this clip My mech had a good lookaround when I pointed it out and is indicating this part as possible cause. It seem to be this part from volvo catalogue, no 8, but I am not 100% sure of that. No other indications of this as separate part. Local volvo parts man said he never sold one but it doesnt mean I am not the "lucky one". Dont wanna buy an 80e part just to rule out its not the cause so your opinion on that is highly welcome. WIth TCV and CBV replaced within last 30k miles, I think its safe to rule them out? Other possiblity may be Wastegate but it was inspected when turbo was out and now it was regulated a bit further and didnt change much. Where else can I look to find the issue? Many thanks for any feedback.
