V50 General : - Dipped headlight

Hi, anyone come across the following?

The nearside dipped headlight on my V50 has developed a black line in its field of light. It projects onto the kerb, it’s a straight solid line that slants to the left. It only appeared when I changed a blown dipped headlight bulb. I have tried another bulb and even took the bulb out the offside to try but still it appears.

I can only think that something has got into the lense projector creating this line or just failed for some reason. Any ideas, then please reply.

id go with your guess
"something" got in and is putting the line (shadow) when the lights on
time to take the headlight unit out strip it and clean

Hi Andy,

A bit late but I thought I should tell you about the usefull link you sent me. I followed the information on the link and took out the projector light fitting, cleaned it and the headlight glass. The problem line has now gone, turned out that it was a leg of a crane fly had melted onto the headlight glass on the inside.
