It seems that all these driver aids, creature comforts, gizmo's and gadgets make for an unreliable cars these days. A modern car is so full of electronics and sensors, its scrambling the cars brain

I have to agree. I miss the simplicity of my 1988 760, the 1996 940 is quite complicated to me! Now that I have found a very reasonable priced welder I may return to 200 series in the future!

Heated screen should be a standard fit these days, my Sierra had one and it was stunning. HDC is yet another wonderful invention, my Freelander was as steady as a rock on a sharp decent.
My favourite modern gadget is the limiter on my van, it's great while driving through roadworks. My next Volvo will have a limited on it. TT

Only if Volvo deem it is a car that can have it - for some reason they do not offer it as standard or an option across the entire range
