Default Hybrid V60

I'm warming to the idea of the Hybrid V60, has anyone tried or got one?

Do you know if they use the same technology as Toyota for the batteries? Toyota swap out the individual faulty cells rather than the whole set. Also, the batteries do appear long lived with more inverter issues than outright battery fails for that manufacturer.

Cheers Clan, I went to an open day at the Daventry Tech Centre and there was a lot of head scratching done when I asked about battery warranty and replacement. My next motor will be a long term keep so I don't want to be handed a car that's dead post 8 yrs

That looks likely , they are trying to set up a battery reconditioning service around the country in the near future .. But the battery doesn't suddenly fail , it fades away as time passes .

It'd be interesting to know what the correct conditions are to match the published MPG. I'm no illusion that that's ever achievable, they never are. The Ampera has fallen wide of its publicised figures. So far mid 70's seems to be the average but I like the look of the 60 which goes most of the way for me.

Various sources quote various real world figures and the average is pretty much what a DRIVe gets on fuel but in the D6 you get over twice the power and torque (as well as AWD) and if your commute is under 30 miles a day it's pennies on electric. They can charge from a 3 pin plug but I believe they are faster charging from a proper car charger but there's a cost to install one of them. Don't know if it's just me but before I bought the 50 I rang 2 dealers who had V60 PHEV's in stock and neither were available for me to drive at all and the boot floor sits higher up so it's even smaller than a regular 60. Otherwise they are a very interesting prospect

Yeah, the boot thing is a bit of a pain plus no spare wheel which to me is a major handicap especially when you're out of the UK. However, I love the spec level which with the touring we do is a big plus. So on my wish list is XC90 Exec or a Duracell V60.....

Yes it is achievable , I've seen 3 now averaging over 130 mpg one of the conditions is that you plug it in as much s possible . I've also seen several V50 Driv e averaging over 70 mpg .

That's nice.... My 2ltr D gives 42 over all due to being mainly round town. Obviously worth further investigation
