Might have to connect VIDA tonight and see if I can find a Stupid Driver fault code logged and clear it.

You could try a house brick under the loud pedal? I was going to suggest a Swiss roll, but they are too squidgy. Regards,Keith.

Just wait until one of your wheel bearings goes, the noise will stop you driving too fast.

I think that's part of the problem - the XC90 feels like a slug at 100 mph....

LOL! As we move inexorably to the world of big brother where already government is aiming to remove 'classic cars' from the road as they will not be able to operate with self driving cars, we will soon have cars that report back to say we are misbehaving so they can send a nice big fine.
Could be game over soon for my daughter who has a black box in her car for insurance purposes and was running at a score of -10 (on a scale of 1 to 10) for speed!! Nothing like her father, of course. I do laugh though with people like Chris Grayling, transport minister - they push for this stuff, especially the self driving car by 2020, to make themselves look good but there are so many reasons a self driving car will not be let free on any road, anytime soon; apart from the legal and safety there is the small issue of reliability and maintenance - watch this space!! However, there is one way this can happen sooner, we can sit and allow the government to push all this through and then only the rich will be able to afford vehicles that can operate in this way so pushing us off the roads and solving overcrowding overnight!! Plus by removing the ability to speed etc. they have smashed their targets for road safety - job done. Last edited by XJSDriver; Sep 11th, 2018 at 13:09. |

Not wishing to undermine the stats in post #6, saw a YouTube clip which showed a car rounding a bend at 30mph, child steps into the road, gets hit. (Presumably/hopefully CGI, not a real child!!)
Then a second scenario, same bend, same car, same child, but car doing 50 mph, and the car has gone past before the child steps out, quite safely. OK, shouldn’t joke, but speed's not the only factor, there’s awareness, anticipation, road conditions, weather, etc, etc.
