Default Retractable tow bars illegal?

Worth looking at the latest post in the V90 section. "Towing with a V90"
Volvo seemed to have made a big mistake!

"After 9 months of 'investigations' and me pushing back on numerous occasions after being told by the dealer, Volvo UK and Volvo Sweden there was no problem with either my vehicle or the towbar, Volvo finally admitted that their retractable towbar does not comply with EU regulations when fitted to a V90 with self leveling suspension, and is effectively an illegal part.."

So in what way does it not fulfill the EU regulations?

According "craigy85" in the thread I pointed you to, the tow ball height is too high, the caravan unstable, and the suspension will not adjust to make it safe. So his new V90 has been returned!

That would seem to be a simple fix?

Either make suspension adjustable (software?) or set the ball height lower (smaller ball stem) a simple mechanical change?

You'd think so, but apparently Volvo can't fix it and gave him his money back for a new V70. So he's bought a BMW!
It's all on the V90 page.
