I am wondering though, if it's going to be able to widthstand the continuous, strenuous pounding that it will get, will you be using protection on it to stop it wearing?

I guess you will have to handle it gently with no sudden forceful thrusting or you may cause damage to the equipment

I suppose, but unless you're always operating it yourself, others can sometimes be a little rough with it. You dont want it chaffing or breaking at all

I think slipping it gently into place may be the key to longer life. Some people don't seem to be able to keep their hands off theirs and I've heard it said that this can damage the bushes. I still have to get under the old girl and check hers out properly as my lever was a bit loose and I think may have been abused by a previous owner.

There's a proper guide on here - I think you have to hook an 11mm spanner on top instead of relying on brute force.
