That's the nice thing about a T4. The boy racers can't believe their eyes when they watch your exhaust pipe disappearing into the distance and realise it is a Volvo driven by a middle aged man. Class, pure class.

You must have some slow boy racers in the UK, cos even if you tune and add Nitro, the T4 is no sports car, it's just faster than the other V40 models off the lights, until you reach the speed limit.
To hold your own on a Sunday morning autobahn or off the lights track session you would need at least 500 hp and a new transmission (ZF 9 speed dual clutch auto box is more efficient and can shift faster than any F1 driver). About 20K in Mods if you fit used parts.

PS: Perhaps AMP is only 17 years old!

Once again skydung is full of crap.

Skyship, I know that you're a German fan boy but not everybody drives BMW M3s and Audi R8s over there. A T4 will happily be quicker than most people's every day cars, it's only the loaded who are out on the autobahns and there aren't that many of you

You forget the T4 is a light car and with a bit of fettling will be quicker than a lot of much more expensive cars.

There's a guy from Sweden running 420bhp beating £350,000 lambos - easily!

Now that's embarrassing for you Germans given the money he spent modifying it is about the same as a clutch replacement on that lambo...

Also, you seem to think every T4 driver is a 17 year old cocky 'chav'? Why is this?

They certainly don't drive Volvos. Mostly Saxos or Corsas slammed on the ground with non TUV approved parts (the horror!)

By every day car, you must mean cars that are slow or driven for fuel economy and minimum tyre wear!

There is no such thing as a fast steel car, it needs to be at least GRP to be fast.

Must have been some real older Lambos or careful drivers just warming up to get passed by a T4. I'd vote they were warming up as they often have large sumps and it takes at least 10 mins to warm one up even in summer.

Those blurs you see passing in most V40 track clips are German sports cars and they often cost less than a 420 hp T4.

The smile factor from the lights...................when your sitting in car that`s worth as much as they have paid for a set of tyres, on theirs and they cant shake you off and at the second set of lights, they keep looking at you, thinking its just an old Volvo. Now that warm feeling, isn't due to incontinence or the heated seat, its 100% smugness. Yes middle age boy racer you are AMP, enjoy it and embrace it.

If you are going to be capable of 0 to 60 in a good time, expensive wide tyres are essential!

I seem to recall the Police in the UK like unmarked cars and oddly enough spinning the wheels off the lights because you don't have traction control fitted constitutes a potential driving without due care and attention charge in most of the EU, although because it's a rather minor charge they are more likely to use it to stop the offender and check for other faults.
The latest one of those according to a recent BBC documentary is online insurance fraud. I saw that program and was impressed by how good a web site, paperwork and call center were involved. It was in fact a one man fraud scheme but he was using some good tech in terms of both printing and the call center background noise tape. The web site was ranked near no 1 in Google for new drivers, so was designed to appeal to those who have to pay two arms and one leg for a premium.
Always best to stick to the big names in both oil and insurance!

Again, bull*hit.

A fully forged engine is capable of over 450hp and would cost anyone in the know around £2000. A big brake kit - £1200. A good exhaust system - few hundred, injections and intercooler - under a thousand and you're done.

A 450hp car for under £5k that's about as much as a second hand vauxhall astra.

My T4 is getting 37.4mpg atm so yeah, they're good daily drivers/sports cars

Beating a german supercar car....

Beating yet again....Another German performance car...

Aaaaaand another...

I've made my point. Time to stop feeding the troll.

AMP - Enjoy your performance car, laugh at some Germans.

If you tune to 450 hp and don't upgrade the clutch, gearbox, drive shaft et al what you will have is a semi disposable sports saloon and a permanent place in this forum trying to fix the HG and turbo failures, assuming you track the car enough to use the extra power.
Oddly enough the extras like traction control and gearbox upgrades cost more than tuning the engine.

If you want a sports car, buy a sports car, as the V40 was designed as a safe family saloon with good fuel economy, even for the OEM petrol versions. 50% increase in BHP is about the max for a semi reliable result, which oddly enough is what Volvo and other tuning companies that offer a warranty of some type offer in MAP change terms.
