Cool XC60 Specifically -Running Boards

Hi

Please can anyone tell me if they have the running boards fitted:

1. Do they offer any protection against careless door openers/dinks etc?
My main reason above for considering....

2. Can they be used to step up, to wash/clean car roof?
3. Someone on XC90 forum said, that the back of your trousers will always be dirty, if fitted, have you found this to be the case on the XC60?
4. Anyone know of any dealers doing any deals/offers on the Running Boards?

Thanks

I'll bet Volvo haven't sold many for the XC60 - the side scuff plates are plenty good enough, running boards belong on a Land Cruiser, not a beautifully streamlined car like the XC60...IMO

Thumbs up Thanks Chaps, But...

I should be concerned with the aesthetics I know, but living in Sarf London, practicality for me takes presedence, if the Volvo running boards, do not protect the doors to an extent, then I won't bother, however, if they do, then I will have to consider...

Also, how do you chaps clean/wash the roof, step ladder?

All comments/opinions appreciated........

I looked at them for the same purposes as you. I found that the XC60 is not tall enough to have other cars smack their doors into yours. Many of the cars nowadays are a similar in height as the '60. I didn't get them for that reason. They looked ok but not great, and they will get the back of you trousers dirty. Unless you have long legs.

TBH - if you are cursed with short legs (as I am), then you will find it a stretch to the ground from the drivers seat, which invariably leads to a dirty right lower trouser leg, with or without running boards!

To clean the roof I stand on a strategically placed upside down milk crate - simples!

Just to throw in my two-penneth - we have an XC90 and youngest was 3 when we got it. Certainly since she's been 5 or 6 she's had absolutely no problems getting in and out without running boards - and the XC90 is higher than the XC60. I doubt you need them.

I use one of those small fold out step ladder things. Just right to do the roof.

From another angle, I just use a soft brush with a 2ft long handle that I purchased from Halfords - it allows me to reach easily the middle of the roof with my feet on the ground.
