RE: steering deflection limiter new shape v70
What you actually want to do is lower the car - this will increase the visual effect of the wheels, which as said elsewhere, just increasing the wheel size won't.
Larger wheels are really all about fitting larger brake discs inside - the 70 series discs are OK however and don't need increasing unless you intend track day use. Going on the various volvo tuning sites will give you some idea of the stuff available and the costs involved - new wheels will be a very large part of those costs and since you've already committed money in that area, other costs may not be an issue. |

RE: steering deflection limiter new shape v70
My car has 195/65 R15 wheels with an outside diameter of 634.5mm (i.e. 381 + 2(0.65x195)). The alternative would seem to be the 215/55 R16, which is also a standard wheel on the V70, with an outside diameter of 642.9mm (i.e. 406.4 + 2(0.55x215)). My personal feeling is that the extra 9mm plus the larger alloy gives a fuller impression within the wheel arch. What I am assuming is that either wheel can be fitted to my car without any change to the instruments. To me it seems likely as the circumference has increased by less that 1.5%. I understand that the turning circle may have to be increased. If so, for me, this last point is quite a disadvantage as the car already has what I consider to be a large turning circle. (Say compared to the rear wheel drive 240.)

RE: steering deflection limiter new shape v70
I dont understand the fuss about the speedo reading not being the same after fitting different wheels. The difference is only usually a few percent. So before the speedo said 70 mph and now it says 72, so what. On older cars the speedos werent that accurate and on newer cars the speedo is set to underread the correct speed.
