Volvo S70 TDi - any good?
I'm looking at replacing my old ford granada 24v for a newer S70 TDi, but i know little about the car.
Are they worth getting / reliable etc? What features do the cars come with, anything to look out for etc? thanks Regards Mike |

RE: Volvo S70 TDi - any good?
I currently have one for sale in the 850/70 section.
I have driven it about 50/60 miles & find it a very punchy, lively engine. It's slightly nosiy on cold start up, as you would expect, but when warm its quiet & refined. Let me know if you require any further details & I'd be interested to know other people's opinions on them too ! Cheers, John. |

I traded miy S70 TDi in July after doing 100,000 miles in it. Fantastic car. Make sure the timing belt has been changed at 80,000 miles (or before). If this has not been done, get it changed before you drive it home. This is a great motorway cruiser but even though it is a big heavy car, it does actually go round bends a lot better than you would expect. PS I know where my old car is currently for sale (116k on the clock) if you live near north yorkshire. |

As for value, as I said I have seen my old car 98' with 116k miles on a forecourt at £5995 which seems very high to me although there do not seem to be many about (took me 3 months to find a nice one when I bought mine a few years back) Parkers suggest a little over £4k with only 60k miles but as I said, not many about. |

RE: Volvo S70 TDi - any good?
I just paid a dealer in Scotland £6500 for a late 99 (vin says its a 2000 model) V plate V70 Tdi with 84000 miles, manual box, Leather/dual climate/7 seats. (demonstrator and 1 previous owner)
Obviously needed t/belts & service - see topics on timing belts in particular. It was cheaper than it might have been because it came without service history, although I have since tracked down 1st 3 were done at volvo, and it had some sort of service at 75K. I recon it will cost me £7350 by the time I have allowed for the service / MAF / tax / tyres I would expect an S70 to be significantly cheaper than a V70. |
