why is that thread on the chevy truck forum? As in, what do you have?!

Looks like, like me you collect projects... I've got a '52 Chevy 3100 that's almost a driver... and a '72 Camaro, that's almost a driver.... and an '80 Blazer that runs but is supposed to be my daily... and that's just the Chevy's...

That site is my 1st forum. Its well moderated so no childish post that go on and on. I started there with a 1970 C-10 long bed (sold) then later had a 2008 Silverado short bed (sold - victim of our economy) then..... a 1949 GMC panel (sold- victim of my sons emergency room visit) (he is fine)
Now I post my Volvo stuff there. Seems odd but I am comfortable there.
I have not posted much on my Amazon here because nothing much has happened with it. I do have a thread here on my wifes 80 Bertone V8 swap.

I do have my sites set on an engine swap on the Amazon as I just can't feel right about the price of a B20 rebuild. (back on topic here )

Once the Bertone gets finished I have a 66 El Camino frame waiting for a Oldsmobile 455 I just rebuilt. Love the odd combo's!

The older I get the more I admire the guys who can focus on one project.

O.K. back to your thread!

Default update

Hello all

And more time has passed. Quick update:

The combi sits as it did (what happened to my pics?)

I've pulled it out of the garage. Driving it everyday.
Someone asked about tire rub. It wasn't a problem, although I did have to roll the front fenders and adjust the max steering lock to avoid rub.

A more pressing problem was that i had mounted the lower baljoints on top of the lower wishbone which with the cut springs led to the top spring holder bumping on the ball joint bolts! The rear was also a tad too low and the exhaust dragged over every speedbump.

She had to go up a tad. 1.5" in the back and about 1" up front. Like so:\

It's acceptable, and as a daily: comfortable to drive!

The engine swap is going to be the T5. It has been chipped (296hp, 380nm of torque). I have since purhcased a late 960 with the M90 manual box. I have the T5 out of the 850 and am pulling the 960 apart next week. Progress is slow and steady. Then the fun begins: fabrication!

The tunnel wil need cutting and widening. Will get this thread up to date with pics asap.

On another engine swap note, I went and looked at a coupe about two weeks ago that a local hotrod builder had built in the 90's. A car you've heard of but don't know if it exists, well it does!

It's a '69 coupe with a blow chevy 305 in it with stock manifold! It JUST fits. The guy put a 240 rear axle in and used a chevy TH400 transmission. Other than custom tunnel the engine sits on stock Amazone crossmember. So it CAN fit! Very narrow tolerances though and it was a basket case in body work and he wanted 30k! IDIOT!

But it can be done

My coupe is getting a supercharged v6 out of a Pontiac Bonneville and a 5spd out of a Chevy S10. Also picked those up since the last update and been pulling apart, dealing with ECU issues. It runs sweet now and that will follow with it's own thread at some point.... after the Combi, which is after my '52 pickup... and I also got my hand on a B230FT with M90 for my MGB.

I TOO ADMIRE THOSE WHO CAN FOCUS ON ONE PROJECT! Lol

Inspiration on looks btw, this is photoshopped by someone, so it's lower than is physically practical and possible ( I think?!) , but I've got the mirrors ordered and looking for some 17" wheels to fill up the arches and help with handling later on with all that power....

I can't remember if I've seen a full engine bay picture of your conversion, is the radiator as small as it looks?

is that a 3.0 or 2.5 in there? what box are you using?

I've got a 2.5 24v lying around with full lpg injection kit... just looking at something to stuff it in, but I don't like the way those engine are tuned so revvy... only really start to pull around 3k and up...
