V50 General : - Clutch hydraulic leak query.

I was driving across the peak district this evening when changing from first to second the clutch pedal bottomed out and didn't return. There were no strange noises accompanying this i just couldn't work the clutch at all. Pulled over and had a look underneath as you do and I could see a liquid leaking from the centre back of the engine under tray.

I managed to bump between the gears and drive home in second which was fairly annoying for all involved.

I'm guessing the hydraulic line for the clutch has been damaged and needs replacing. Is there anything else it's likely to be? Any speculation on the cost of repair? It'll give me something to think about whilst waiting for the garage to open on Monday!

It's a v50 2.0d 07 model if that makes any difference!

Any estimates on clutch hydraulic pipe replacement costs would be much appreciated!

It would be the concentric clutch slave cylinder leaking .. they are around £120 + the gearbox will need removal
If you have done over 80000 miles i would put a new clutch in as well for peace of mind .

Thank you for the reply. That's annoying I was hoping it could just be a split cable. It's approaching 100 000 so it sounds like I might be getting that knocking DMF replaced a little earlier than planned.

You were spot on! The concentric slave had completely broken apart. New cylinder, DMF and clutch (all LUK) bought and fitted for £700. A good price for the job but I hope not to see a bill that big anytime soon!
