Default LCD dashboard turning itself off!

Hello

The LCD dash on my wife's 14 plate XC60 has begun to turn itself off while driving. 3 times in as many months - a little disconcerting when in the fast lane on the M1

The nav screen has also done this once, but it's the main dash that concerns me most.

Off into dealer in the new year for the power tailgate recall, so will ask them to check/update the software, but wondered if anyone else has seen this before?

Is it totally turning itself off completely, or going really really dim and dark?

If you're talking about the TFT display then it has happened to me about 5 or 6 times over the last few months. The whole TFT display goes blank, then slowly comes back to life? Seems to have no impact on any parts of it - trip measures etc all come back to life as expected but if agree it's extremely disconcerting. I had ACC on at one time and it doesn't stop working. Reported it to dealer at the time and the car is due for first service early Jan so will mention it again especially now someone else is experiencing it.

If it's not TFT related then ignore all above!

I've had the Sat Nav screen go off a couple of times, dealer confirmed that the system had logged fault codes but no information on what they related to.

Strange thing it's not happened against since I had it at the dealers, fingers crossed!

Hi Andy

Yes, the TFT display. Reappears after 5-10 seconds and all seems normal when it's back.

ACC - Cruise control? That's good to know. Would be very worried if other stuff like ABS/ESP stopped working!

I love these new displays, but have to say (and sound like my dad now!) the more software they stick in cars, the more there is to go wrong

I've had it the other way round a couple of times where the display is ok but everything reads zero or a set of dashes. The only way I can get it working again is to switch off, wait for 10 minutes until the humming noise under the bonnet stops and then switch back on.

The quality of these cars is crap.

My rear parking sensor has packed in now.

German Prices, French quality.

Feel sorry for whoever has bought new, I really do.

I don't think it's specific to here, I am defecting away from the VW badge as it's not worth having an older car anymore, even a supposedly premier brand.
You used to be able to buy a car that had taken it's big hit on depreciation and then run it for a few years until too much failed for it to be cost effective.

Whatever you buy now seems to have issues from new, it's now just down to who pays for the problems and when.

I totalled up what it has cost me in depreciation and running costs and its no longer cheaper to have an older car. For roughly the same money I am trying an XC60 on lease for 2 years and then cut and run. Yes there is still going to be some big bills, but they won't be mine.

I must say the reviews I fin don the XC60 are all full of praise for the package, which is good as I ordered one not even having had a drive of one.
