Just to add to the data set: my 3 month old MY15 XC60 keyless works flawlessly (so far!). I haven't yet had the tailgate software update done.

Please go and get the update done then we might know more!!

It might be something completely different but logically something must have happened to all of our cars for this to be a fairly common occurrence.

Another possibility is maybe the temperature dropping has had some sort of effect?

Temperature dropping? I am sat on my patio in a t-shirt having a drink at the moment - perhaps December was cancelled and I am in April?

I forgot to add that I will be getting my tailgate software update done along with the remote fobs. The worry is when I phoned to book the TSU the service lady said "we will need the car for a couple of hours as we are not quite sure what the update is as we have only done a couple of these". As it is I haven't had a problem with the Tailgate so I will ask first if they know what to do and if not tell them to leave it. I would be happier if they can fix the remote fobs.

I had this problem last month in 03/14 181 D4 car.
Keyless remote opened door sometimes, sometimes not. If I used the mechanical key it set alarm off.
When attempting to start the engine with keyless method "key not found" message sometimes came up in dash, even if the remote was in my left hand. The remote worked if it was inserted in dash so I was not stranded.
This was before the tailgate software update which was done when in garage with remote repair.
No problems since "receiver" was replaced.

Luckily in for 1st service next week
Solved my problem and it might be a solution for some others - the connector between the door and the frame was loose, the locking clip had worked loose and when I checked the other doors they were all loose.

As I said cured my issue, much be worth having a look

Mine seems to have started behaving again without interference from me or the dealer. Will see how it goes. It did seem to get worse for a while (couldn't find key in the car on a couple of occasions). It's been in for its first checkup but not a service. Not sure if the tailgate update has been done but the problem happened after the checkup.
