Default rev counter

do the white wires go round a plastic and metal clip and as such are a continuous length?if so they go into the wire from coil to distributor.so the circuit goes from coil, round the loop on the rev counter, and onto the distributor.the rev counter senses the pulses going past it from the loop.hope this helps, dave

Thats if it is an impulse tacho. I am not sure that it is, but if it is this will help:

I got an impulse tacho for mine and I found this on the web and it showed me how to wire it up, works perfect now.

sounds like that is the case thanks dave. oit is a volvo rev counter, the 123gt pod sort. it rings a bell that one goes to the coil and the other to the distributor. any idea which side of the coil? i guess just a piggy back onto the small wire on the distributor?

There is a wire connecting the distributor to the coil. You are essentially putting the rev counter in the middle of this connection. So, re-wire it with a longer wire out to the tacho and back again.
