76’ 242 with 89’ B230 no start
Hello everyone this is my first post here and I’m at a loss with my daily. It’s a 1976 Volvo 242 DL. It has a 1989 B230 with an M47 (swap from a previous owner). It was running great until about 3 months ago it wouldn’t start one morning. I tracked it down to the fuel pressure regulator and replaced it. After that the car started up and ran great again for about 2 months.
About a month ago the car randomly was running really rough and stalled in a parking lot. Just like last time I had spark, compression, and timing. Because my regulator was under warranty I thought I might as well try replacing it. Again after replacing it, it started up great and I drove it home.
starting the morning after and over the past few weeks the car will sometimes a) start up and run great b) start and run really rough but then clear up c) not start at all. For the past 4 days I’ve been at not starting at all. I replaced my filter (one near the tank) and my injectors. I tested the fuel pressure at the rail and it was at 39 psi when the ignition is turned on and keeps it when you crank. The car will start on starting fluid but obviously then die when the starting fluid isn’t fueling the engine anymore. This morning I drained the gas in the tank and put 2 gallons of fresh gas in and it still won’t start. Any recommendations on what to do next?
