Default S40 2.0d limp home

Brand new to the Forum and Having a problem. Just looking for a bit of advice. Bought a s40 2.0d 2005 two days ago. Test drive mint, 2 & 1/2 hour drive home perfect. The next day put half a tank of diesel in and just drove for hours getting used to the car. No problems and Loved it. Today I got in it and 15 mins up the road I lost power which I assume is limp home mode, carried on for 10 mins and pulled into a layby. No warning lights or messages. Switched off engine and sat there for a minute started up again and was fine no probs. 10 mins later same problem, pulled over switch off and on again and was back to normal and got home 20 mins later no probs!?!
Anyone got any idea what the problem is/could be/might be??

I had similar problems caused by faulty wiring of the fuel injectors. No warning lights, just the engine could not exceed 1100 RPM. It actually took months (and 3 towing cars) before it has been properly diagnosed
