Default 19" wheels.

We have just bought an 11 month old XC60 SE Lux but find the ride very hard. Admittedly the old XC70 was very soft but this car is far harder than my faithful 99 plate V70.

I have the option of swapping the 19" Fenrir wheels for some 18" ones from another car at the dealers.

So the question is would 18" wheels make much difference?

Thanks.

I find the ride on my 18" wheels to be comfortable - no real problems with potholes etc.

I have inflated the pressures to 39psi recently and again this has not caused any issues with the ride.

Yep same here - have 18" Zephyrus and inflated to 39psi all round - ride is pretty good mostly

I have an R-design which was supplied with 20" wheels - beautiful but a labour of love with the ride. Now running the winter set which are 18" Volvo Mantus rims. The difference is really quite striking, both ways:

the ride is much improved and noise levels are lower, but

the car just doesn't have the 'drop-dead' gorgeous looks any more.

Pays your money & takes your choice.

The 18 inch wheels on my car were 35 psi when delivered to me new. The ride was amazing, so smooth. I have since upped that to 37 psi, still a quality smooth ride. So yes I think you should go for 18 inch wheels if you find 19 inch too hard.
