Not naff , a 3 cylinder with 180 bhp or the same as the D4 ... a 3 cylinder sounds a bit like a v6 .. so far 3 cylinder engines by other manufacturers have all been small , 900 - 1200 cc so this should be something special ! Having said that the most efficient size of a cylinder is around 300 cc
Have a read about how well the 2 cylinder Morgan 3 wheeler goes ...

Lived in Walderslade/Lords Wood area for over forty years now. I was taught to read a little for the study of scientific papers, that was well over 45 years ago; my Russian is now so rusty (a bit like a certain curtain that hasn't gone away) I make use of on-line translators.....the colloquialisms have changed somewhat over the years......the sentiment is the same!

Given the events of the last few days...beware the woken bear // Остерегайтесь проснулся медведb....Cyrillic keyboards don't always give you what you expect!

ASt85,

You may have the right notion about the Russians, they have been doing quite a bit sabre rattling of late.

My brother-in-law lives in Ballens Rd. I'm guessing for a similar length of time as you?

Thats all very well clan for the 3 wheeler morgan but the weight differences between the 2 vehicles is a stumbling block surely as of in bhp to mass shifted?

Hi David,
We live about a mile away from your brother, to the left of Princes Avenue just before you get to Morrison's coming from Robin Hood Lane.....small world isn't it!
Its amazing how many are connected to the "lamp swingers", "pongos" and "Jollies" here abouts.

It all depends on mapping though ultimately, plenty of torque lowdown to get the weight shifted it won't be a problem when you need more power to increase momentum or maintain it the turbo kicks in.

If you think about it a 3 pot 4 bearing engine should be more easily balanced in theory - the 60° separation should be eminently easier to reach higher rpm without overloading bearings. However any four stroke cycle engine will be less reliable as a three pot and be more prone to over stresses than a 4 stroke 4 pot or 2 stroke 3, 4 or 6 pot.... now there's a thought a 6 cylinder 2 stroke Volvo !! B****R it, go for a 7 pot /2 stroke and call it a KAWASAKiVOLVO!!!

3 cylinder =
no torque at low revs
hard on the clutch when starting on a hill

The morgan is lighter with less power 520 kg 82 bhp the volvo will have 180 bhp so a little less performance , the morgan will do 0-60 in 6 seconds .
Have you driven a 3 cylinder citroen C1 or peugeot 106 or toyota aygo ? bags of torque ...
