Default V90 Servicing Cost & Retorfit Camera Quote

I've just had to book my V90 D5 MY18 in for it's 2nd service and been give n a price of £440 from the dealer. This is the first service that I've had to pay for as when I bought the car last year Volvo had serviced it themselves.

Is £440 for a routine service the going rate? It seems a little on the high side to me but this is the first Volvo that I've owned so wasn't sure.

Whilst I was on the phone I asked them to get me a price for retrofitting a reversing camera. It already has front and rear parking sensors but my wife says she would feel better parking it if it had the camera. They came back with a staggering price of £1,020!! I asked how they got to that price and he told me that the cost of the camera itself was £600 which is just utter nonsense.

Being quoted such a high price for the camera has made me wonder about the servicing cost. Do all Volvo dealers charge the same for servicing or does it vary?

I'm based in Warrington in the North West so if there are any Volvo owners on here with some experience in this area I would appreciate your feedback!

Yup, that's about the cost to install it - I enquired when I bought my V60 Momentum Pro.

Lots of labour as I don't believe the cable is in place...and yes the camera is a few quid.

It just seems wrong that a quite low res reversing camera costs more than a decent DSLR! Found a whole kit on ebay for £369.99, just the time to actually get around to doing it!

Are you a Volvo owners club member? It’s £30 and we got 20% off a reversing camera for the previous model V60 - cost £700 rather than £900. We also get 10% off servicing so on your £440 bill you’d save £44, so it’s totally worth joining if your not already a member!

When ordered as an option on a new car about £400.

Here is the installation instructions for fitting to an existing car. https://accessories.volvocars.com/In...-)/2018http://
Not that straightforward

£440 sounds high for a 2nd service IMO. Thats getting into Audi pricing.

Car manufacturers IMO have moved to trying to make more in servicing and car parts over the last 10/15 years, they have risen quite a lot which for many parts is ironic as they are often used is many models now to keep the costs down (... margins way up now)

Mine was in for it's second service last week (on a 5 year service contract ) last week and when I asked how much it would have been they were very coy and avoided answering. I didn't push it. When I tried to find the service cost indicator on line I was unable to do so. Can anyone provide a link?. I know that 2 years ago when I costed 5 years of servicing it came to £1800 + . That, together with this thread makes me realise that the £500 I paid was a bargain.

I think the cheapest ever Volvo service I had was £350, and that was always followed by one nearer £500 the next year.
So I’ve always gone for th service packages on my most recent Volvos.
