So the computer says full even when it's not quite full to give some tolerance for the level rising between services? Although I might be wrong

Yes, they rewrote the dipstick software to give a full reading when the sump was 75% full but the dipstick markings don't change so if you fill to the dipstick, the car will register the sump as overfull and give you warnings. There is no harm in this until you do get diesel backflow into the oil sump when the level rises above the safe level and the engine can be damaged by too much "oil" in the sump. So if you are filling your own oil use both the computer gauge, 100%, and/or the dipstick, 75%, to check levels. If you are giving the car to a garage who are not Volvo specialists, tell them about this situation or you will get your sump overfilled and have problems if you get aborted regens.

I have just bought one this week - the Volvo dealer selling it asked for my VIN number to check - and told me it will fit.

Did it on my D5244T15, very convenient to check the oil level now.

the small dipstick was a joke.

Gave up with the ebay offering and ordered the parts from my Local Volvo. £77.

Totally confused the parts guy. Never heard of it. Police conversion. We do all the police cars, still never heard of it. Gave him the dipstick part number - it comes up as Police Spec.....Lol
