not that the prat who buys it new will be the one stuck with a 40k miles engine thats 100% shot, that will be the 3rd/4th owner in 4 /5 years time ....

and all the sheeple will love them brand new, not give a toss about them after the 3rd year as they will have shifted it on,
what ever do you base that theory on ? The 1500 engine is not small , neither is it low powered . its exactly the same stress as a 2litre 4 cylinder 180 bhp volvo engine which we have had for years , look at the old S/V40 T4 , 200 bhp and lasts forever .. in fact it is exactly that with one cylinder less . you don't have engines wearing out at all on volvos let alone at 40000 miles :-)

Second that. We owned a 3-pot smart forfour (diesel, 90hp one..) that pulled like a train - sold at 200K+ kms it was still running as strong as ever.. However, the sound of it was something I could never get used to.. Lawnmower.. But we were getting under 4l/100km..

I think the T3 is just wrongly mated with a manual gearbox.. Like someone else said earlier 0-100km/h in under 8 sec is quite respectable..

Default XC40 Twin Engine pricing?

Has anyone seen a pricing estimate for the 3 cyl T3 Twin Engine? The lower cost of manufacture of this petrol engine with the electric motor integrated into the gearbox should mean a much smaller delta than the T8 in the XC60/90 compared to a diesel engine. The fact that the S60 has been announced with no diesel engines in the range may indicate some optimism is reasonable on pricing.

You couldn't get a Hybrid XC40 when i asked the dealers in May. Said they were more likely to have a full electric XC40 out next year.
