Default Erratic indicators

I've had my V90CC for about 4 weeks now and love it - except for one thing. The indicators don't "click" to a steady rhythm and it gradually seems to be getting worse. I'm not sure if the actual indicator flashes steadily and it's just the audible "click" that's out, but it's annoying and I've had passengers comment on it, which is quite embarrassing for an expensive car.

Can anyone else please tell me if they experience this or if it's one to get looked at?

It is normal for the indicators to miss a beat/click now and then, reported by lots of members, and mine does too but sounds like yours are doing something different.
P.S, I have observed the reflection of mine in the paintwork of vehicle in front when mine misses a click and the indicators worked fine at a steady rhythm. Make me wonder if the sound is generated via software as apposed to flasher unit.

Mine misses a beat sometimes; it seems to be random.

As the indicators are LED, I'm 99% sure the click is generated by a control unit rather than an old-style mechanical flasher unit.

This is why most police vehicles now retain a head unit in one form or another because the indicator relay sound is generated / distributed from there.

The OP is right, it is embarrassing for such an expensive car.
Unfortunately, I suspect Nu11eaf and Lexman8 are correct and the sound is software generated, and as we all know computers and software are glitchy.
Modern cars are now so dependent on computers that we must expect glitches, which doesn't make it "normal" as Nu11eaf suggests, but rather that our expectations of perfection, even in an expensive car, should be lowered as a result.
I believe the luxury marques such as Bentley and RR still use mechanical analogue clocks, probably as a sign of luxury and perhaps also for reliability so as to avoid these glitches?

Sorry to divert the subject a little but speaking of embarrassment, it's probably not as bad as a friend of mine who bought a brand new Mercedes CLS. His friends visited his family for a week and he was really looking forward to travelling the UK and showing off his CLS to his friends...only to find out that the air con doesn't work.

He had to open the windows even on the motorways...imagine the German "refinement"!

I joked to him and said next time you buy a Merc, don't be so tight and add Air Con to the option list!

Sorry I sould have said its a common occurrence, which is what I meant, not normal.

I have worked out why - on some occasions at least - it misses a beat. It is when the computer has to do something else. Mine will interupt or miss a beat if something else is adjusted on the main screen.

Also I was joining the motorway and the car warned me of park assist not being available. The indicators were still on but went quiet for about 4 clicks and then a bit erratic for a couple too.

This was quite common on the new XC90 when launched , however I have not noticed it since around Christmas … there are many software updates coming out, almost weekly , did your car have a full software update at it's PDI ? it should have as part of the process . See how it is after your service which updates the software free . Or complain about it and see what the software situation is ..

My XC90 has always done this, not great, its one of those seemingly simple things that you don't expect to fail on an expensive car.

My last software update was during a service in May and its continued to do its since.
