I did yesterday my first OTA update. Download took some time as I have spotty reception where I am at the moment. Remarkable is that after 100% download there seemed to be no further message while installing. The app also needed to be online to start installing although the download was already at 100%. On the plus side the map worked the whole time while updating - at least I noticed no downtime at all.

Downloading
I have had no joy at all trying to update the maps on my XC90 trying both 32Gb and 64Gb memory sticks with the software downloaded from the Volvo update site.
I have slavishly followed the instruction but to no avail. Is there some trick not included in the instructions e.g. unzipping the files on the memory stick? Running the engine? that people are aware of ..... It's the north west europe update that I have been trying to install. Thanks in advance. |

Use your phone, tethered to Sensus through wifi, to download through the mobile network. Its not a big file but it does take maybe 15 minutes plus the same again to install. Its far and away easier and quicker than downloading to an USB stick

Thanks. I tried connecting my Iphone that way ( not getting the house Wi-Fi ) and the Downloads App identifies that a new map is available but when I go in to the maps section is says for that msp "Update too big : visit support.volvocars.com".

It did take 6 hours to download though! I don't think there is any tricks involved. I just plugged in the USB drive and it auto updated. Are you have problems downloading the map to the USB drive or installing it afterwards? |

I then download using the Volvo app tool onto the stick. Takes a few hours. I then use the verify option on the Volvo tool app. Sometimes the car will not recognise the stick straight away and have to re-insert. Just downloading 1186 now. |
